The Freudenberg Politex plant in Zavoizhie, Russia, has expanded its capacity for polyester nonwoven production by 3,000 tons per year, most of which are used for Drenotex geotextiles in applications for roads, landfills, drainage or railways. The company’s staple and spunbond polyester nonwovens, successfully used and marketed as reinforcement for bituminous roofing membranes, are becoming popular in other construction markets, such as waterproofing, thermal insulation and soundproofing. Much of the polyester is produced from recycled PET plastic bottles.
