Canadian warp and circular knitter Syfilco Ltd. has reported that its business is booming after the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. The business manufactures knitted polyester sleeves and polyethylene netting sleeves that are filled with absorbent materials to create booms used to contain the spill. Company vice president Andy de Boer told reporters that Syfilco had recently increased its production capacity to 215 miles of boom per week, and may soon reach 300 miles per week when new equipment comes on line.
