The National Council of Textile Organizations (NCTO) board of directors has voted to endorse the U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement, which was signed by the three countries on Nov. 30, 2018. NCTO regards the agreement to be an improvement over NAFTA in many ways for the U.S. textile industry. Improvements include a standalone chapter for textile and apparel; stronger rules of origin for sewing thread, pocketing, narrow elastics and certain coated fabrics; and stronger rules for customs enforcement.
