A ‘frames and fabrics’ approach

These days, tradeshow booths are evolving to be more adaptable and sustainable by using unique materials. Now Netherlands-based Van Straaten Group and its North American member, Cees Smit Inc., have departed from the norm and developed an eco-friendly trade show booth that is completely wood-free.

Using the “frames and fabric” approach, the booth is constructed using aluminum frames and sublimation textiles. The company introduced a 1,279-square-foot version of the booth at Euroshop 2017 in Düsseldorf, Germany.

Designed for sustainability, the booth requires only one 10-foot truck for transport. Waste is limited to the packaging materials for the sublimation textiles, which can be folded without damage, and the frames. During disassembly, this material can be recycled for reuse.

In addition, the aluminum frames require a small space for storage, compared to wooden frames, and can be reused for other purposes.

Another advantage is cost. The booth is easier to install, resulting in shorter installation time. And since no wood is involved, carpenters and painters are not required for set-up.
