Fighting AIDS with fine design

The Design Industries Foundation Fighting Aids (DIFFA) raises funds for grants to organizations engaged in HIV- and AIDS-related activities—and does it in style. In conjunction with the Architectural Digest Home Design Show in New York City, DIFFA hosted a Dining by Design event in March, featuring dining installations with award-winning interior design. This year, Ghislaine Viñas Interior Design partnered with Glen Raven Inc., Glen Raven, N.C., on a dining room design using popular Sunbrella® fabrics to create an amazing and intimate blue hideaway.

This “Out of the Blue” exhibit immerses viewers in a draped, exotic periwinkle blue world with hints of oriental, Arabian and African detail. Sunbrella’s inspired colors, styles and textures tempt designers; its durability, fade resistance and ease of cleaning satisfy customers’ more practical considerations. “Using only Sunbrella fabrics and thread throughout the installation mixed with our use of bold graphics, we have created an atmosphere we are truly excited to share at Dining by Design 2016,” says Viñas.

This year’s Dining by Design hosted 2,000 people at the two fundraisers, 45,000 throughout the week for both Piers 92 and 94 and raised nearly $800,000 toward DIFFA’s grant making efforts.
