The Faribault Woolen Mill, at one time the largest manufacturer of wool blankets in the U.S., closed in July 2009, leaving a void in Faribault, Minn., where the company (established in 1865) used to be. Now, a former Dairy Queen International Inc. CEO and his family aim to bring back the Mill. Chuck Mooty, president and CEO of the renewed Faribault Woolen Mill, will be joined by his cousin and business partner Paul Mooty as CFO and son John Mooty as marketing manager. Before its demise, the Faribault Woolen Mill manufactured woolen, cashmere, Ingeo™ and other woven goods for the retail, hospitality and health care industries. “What a fun challenge to rejuvenate a community, a piece of history, a slice of domestic industry,” says Chuck Mooty.
