PIKEUR, a leading German equestrian fashion brand, has won the “Spoga horse Innovation Award 2010” in Cologne, Germany, for innovative riding pants that achieve successful water and dirt repellency using the Barrier by HeiQ water and stain repellent treatment from HeiQ Materials. PIKEUR Reitmoden Brinkmann GmbH & Co. KG took home the award in the “rider” category based on the textile effect’s “ability to provide the riding pants with soil and water repellency thanks to the lotus effect provided by Barrier by HeiQ.”
A rider is particularly exposed to weather conditions, and riding clothes must be both water repellent and breathable. Barrier by HeiQ achieves this by building a naturally inspired 3-D structure on the textile surface that provides higher repellence performance and a greener eco-profile than conventional repellency technologies.
The Barrier by HeiQ textile treatment is available for sportswear, workwear, military uniforms and technical textiles where high performance requirements.
