Exports of manmade fiber textiles are on the path to recovery, with new demand coming from Europe and Western Asia, according to India’s Synthetic & Rayon Textile Export Promotion Council. For the period April–September 2009, manmade fiber exports rose by 10 percent (in dollars) compared to 2008. Ganesh Kumar Gupta, council chairman, said “The recovery in exports was mostly seen from the Middle East region, especially the United Arab Emirate and Europe. The U.S. markets, however, continue to remain comparatively weak.” He predicted more growth in the near future, and that synthetic material prices are likely to increase as well.
