U.S.A.-based Texas Tech University and Bannari Amman Institute of Technology (BIT), Sathyamangalam, India, jointly announce the 6th edition of “Advances in Textiles, Machinery, Nonwovens and Technical Textiles–ATNT 2009,” to be held on the BIT campus from Dec. 7–9, 2009. For the past five years, Texas Tech University has been providing this international platform in the Coimbatore area for exchanging cutting-edge topics and ideas on emerging textile fields; value addition and diversification are critical to the industry during this global economic slowdown.
The conference will focus on finding solutions to some of the difficulties faced by India’s textile industry, and providing information on new market opportunities for global companies. Industrial and academic experts from all over the world will discuss the latest topics in the field of value-added textiles. Key topics will include:
- technology and marketing of technical textiles;
- eco-friendly textiles;
- functional finishes;
- nanotechnology in textiles;
- defense textiles; and
- new developments in spinning, weaving, and processing.
Dr. Seshadri Ramkumar of Texas Tech, who originally developed the ATNT conference, is working jointly with Dr. A.
