Chronology
A series based on the Alex Cross novels by James Patterson
Alex Cross uses forensic psychology to analyze the minds of murderers, delving into the psyches of victims to identify and bring murderers to justice. Aldis Hodges discusses playing the lead role and the crime drama "Cross," for which he should be known as an actor and producer, and his commitment to fostering diverse narratives through his producing work. Hodges is the third actor to portray Cross, following in the footsteps of Morgan Freeman, who first portrayed him on screen in 1997"s Kiss the Girls and again in the 2001 sequel Along Came a Spider; and Tyler Perry as the main character in the 2012 film Alex Cross, which bombed at the box office and caused Lionsgate to scrap the previously planned sequel Double Cross. I haven’t watched the entire series yet, so I can only comment on the first 3 episodes, but I’m definitely drawn in & find Aldi Hodge a great Alex Cross.
Please ignore this & just watch episode 2 & make your own decision
It’s engaging, gritty, the story becomes clearer in the first few episodes, with the mystery building. Unfortunately, some of the reviews here are quite negative because of their own views on race. Hopefully, when you see the first episode, you’ll see that the guy questioned at the beginning probably has the same views as some of the ones here. Don’t listen to the obvious fantasies, these problems ARE common & unfortunately they are common these days, so why not shed some light on it.
Just seemed a bit cliché
Sorry if this is uncomfortable for some people. 2 things bothered me; Firstly, I agree with some of the comments about the lighting, it’s very dark & I strained my eyes a bit but it wasn’t terrible. Secondly, it may seem petty but the Captain was a very stereotypical, old fashioned look, always annoyed with Cross despite his excellent police experience, rude etc. .
A minor issue but I found it a bit distracting!
And I was also really put off by her hair, lol, no way a high ranking woman would wear her hair like that, it looked strange especially when she had her police hat on, it didn’t seem to sit right! I’ve read most of James Patterson’s books and this is definitely different from them but it’s not necessarily a bad thing. Warning if you don’t want spoilers skip the last part of episode 1 as it has a "this season on Cross…" preview which I didn’t watch as I don’t want spoilers & I didn’t think it was necessary. Try it, watch a couple episodes & think you’ll want to watch the whole series..
