MakMax Australia fabricated a white lycra installation that provided a frame for the stage at the MTV Australia Music Awards held in Sydney, Australia. The purpose of the project was to create something unique for the MTV Music Awards that no other award show had seen. The concept first presented to the award show organizers was similar in design but used plastic. Organizers of the show, however, had seen a MakMax fabric interior creation and were intrigued by its design. Because of its light weight and flexibility, the project was quite a bit faster to build (about four weeks to design, fabricate and construct it) and less expensive than traditional building materials, so the fabric structure that was ultimately chosen proved to be more practical and economical for the client.
